This past Saturday, November 16th, Claude VonStroke concluded his Urban Animal Tour at SpyBar, Chicago. Now, I was expecting great things from VonStroke, but he absolutely killed it with this one. There wasn’t a single bad vibe in the whole crowd, and I think that derives from VonStroke‘s carefree, joyous attitude. This dude clearly just loves the music. He’s not one of those DJs who cares about how cool he looks when he’s turning a dial.
In fact, he was laughing for a good part of the show, smiling down at his most enthusiastic fans, occasionally tossing a copy of Urban Animal into the crowd, and simply enjoying the night. Claude‘s blithe approach to DJing translated into the music he played. His entire set flowed seamlessly from one track to the next, making it seem like one continuous auditory roller coaster that never ceases to enthrall, and that never enthralls in quite the same way.
